Becoming a Member
Any natural person or legal entity is eligible for membership in the organization, as long as they are willing to support its goals. Membership is established by written application, which the Board has to accept with a majority of two thirds of its members. Each member has to nominate a delegate who represents it in the General Assembly and, if applicable, votes on its behalf. The Statutes (“Constitution”) differentiate between Full (“ordinary”), Associate (“extraordinary”), and Supporting Members.
Full Members are members with either A or B status. Members with A status are manufacturers and service providers, content providers, broadcasters (both public and commercial) and state media authorities, network and satellite operators, as well as all other organizations of a similar nature, whose activities relate directly to the media industry and/or whose business is profit-oriented. Members with B status are institutions and organizations that are non-profit by themselves but have members or represent institutions who pursue a profit-oriented business, e.g. trade associations, cooperatives, and similar institutions.
Associate Members are, for example, federal ministries or state governments, public authorities, or associations directly or indirectly concerned with television of the future. They play a consulting role (no voting rights) and are thus exempt from membership dues.
Supporting Members support the Platform’s work and objectives through voluntary contributions and/or donations.
To apply for membership, an informal application has to be submitted to the Head Office. The annual membership dues (net), as determined by the General Assembly in the Membership Fee Regulations, are:
for Full Members with A status: €10,400
for companies with less than 500 employees: €5,200
for Full Members with B status: €2,600
For start-up companies and new members to the German TV Platform, the General Assembly has put together an attractive Welcome Package: Companies with less than ten employees thus benefit from a reduced membership fee. In addition, all new members enjoy a discount during their first year of membership.
