More than 30 companies from 13 countries test interoperability in Berlin<\/h2>\n

Berlin, October 10, 2025<\/em><\/p>\n

This Friday marked the end of the \u201c16th Plugfest and HbbTV Testing Event\u201d<\/strong> at Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin after five days.<\/p>\n

For the organizers Deutsche TV-Plattform (DTVP) and Digital Television Group (DTG) in collaboration with the HbbTV Association, it was the most successful event of its kind to date.<\/p>\n

More than 30 companies, hailing from Belgium, China, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Poland, Spain, Turkey, the UK, and the USA, sent their developer teams to Berlin to test the interoperability of new TV applications in around 200 test sessions. Hardware and software that are close to market maturity were used, including numerous smart TVs, set-top boxes, and HDMI\u00ae test devices, as well as content offerings from private and public TV broadcasters.<\/p>\n

The range of test topics was correspondingly large, spanning various HbbTV functionalities, features to improve accessibility, the design of DVB-I services, to HDMI\u00ae interoperability tests and sound checks for immersive audio.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n \n \n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n \n

\u201cContent providers want to offer viewers the highest possible quality of content on all channels, regardless of the distribution path. On the other hand, device manufacturers and infrastructure operators also want to ensure a seamless hybrid TV experience.
