Focus 2026

AI in Broadcast.

Artificial intelligence is transforming the media industry in many areas at once. It enables automated subtitling and metadata creation, shapes recommendations and personalization, and is now deeply involved in production and distribution. With the Media Innovation Platform, DTVP 2026 is dedicated to the question of how AI acts as a game changer in TV and streaming and what responses practice and regulation find to it.

Focus 2026

DVB-I.

With DVB-I, linear TV services can be distributed over the open internet, based on uniform standards and independent of proprietary platforms. In the DTVP task force, the implementation profile for the German market has been developed, aligned with the European Common Profile and continuously further developed. The work is accompanied by topic papers, pilot projects, and test materials that make the standard ready for practice.

Events

Where the DACH TV world comes together.

With the Plugfest, DTVP maintains one of the central interoperability formats for the hybrid TV world. Annually, over 30 companies from three continents come together in Berlin to test new technologies under real conditions. In addition, the Media Innovation Platform and our presence at ANGA COM shape the event calendar, complemented by the general meeting and Summer Lounge.

What connects the events is not just the program, but what happens between the program points. Industry talks at the standing table, personal encounters after months of Teams meetings, new contacts from research and industry. Here, regular exchange becomes a grown network and topics become common concerns.

Ongoing Topics

What occupies us beyond the day.

In addition to the annual focus areas, our three working groups Media over IP, Smart Media, and Ultra HD continuously address the major topics of the hybrid TV world — from FAST Channels to Connected TV to standardization, accessibility, sustainability, and Next Generation Audio.

What makes DTVP special is not just the breadth of topics, but the way topics emerge and mature. Broadcasters meet manufacturers, platforms meet research, international standards meet the German-speaking market. From this regular exchange, common positions, lived synergies, and concrete recommendations for the DACH region emerge.

“What fascinates me about working for DTVP is this constant movement: In the working groups, standards mature, at the events, actors from all over Europe meet, and the TV and broadcast market is developing faster than ever before. DVB-I today, AI tomorrow, sustainability the day after tomorrow — and in between the many questions that everyday life poses.”
