DVB-I
Release of the DVB-I Task Force
Frankfurt/Main, March 17, 2026
Deutsche TV-Plattform (DTVP) today published the DVB-I Implementation Profile for the German market. The document was developed over the past two years by DTVP’s DVB-I Task Force, led by Frank Heineberg (RTL Deutschland) and Remo Vogel (rbb), in collaboration with the “DVB-I Round Table” as the basis for the market launch of DVB-I in Germany.
The open DVB-I standard enables the simple, integrated use of linear television, including via IP streaming, without the need to launch a separate app; DVB-I also enables intelligent integration of non-linear / VOD services and is therefore a promising technical solution for the digital transformation of the television market.
The topics covered by the implementation profile are diverse and include, for example, the specifications of DVB-I and HbbTV, reception technologies, DVB-I metadata, pop-up channels, regionalization of the service list, and accessibility features.
By providing test cases, which are also part of the Implementation Profile, device manufacturers are enabled to specifically test their DVB-I receivers for interoperability in the German market.
The DVB-I Implementation Profile
The DTVP DVB-I Implementation Profile is a separate document and serves as an appendix to a planned “DVB-I Book Germany” (working title) by the “DVB-I Round Table”.
