DVB-I
Release of the Task Force DVB-I
Frankfurt/Main, March 17, 2026
The German TV Platform (DTVP) has today published the DVB-I Implementation Profile for the German market. The document was developed over the past two years by the Task Force DVB-I of the DTVP under the leadership of Frank Heineberg (RTL Deutschland) and Remo Vogel (rbb) in collaboration with the “Round Table DVB-I” as a basis for the market introduction of DVB-I in Germany.
The open DVB-I standard enables the simple, integrated use of linear television, even via IP streaming, without the need to launch a separate app; DVB-I also allows for intelligent integration of non-linear / VOD services and is thus a promising technical solution for the digital transformation of the television market.
The topics covered by the implementation profile are diverse and include, for example, the specifications of DVB-I and HbbTV, reception technologies, DVB-I metadata, pop-up channels, the regionalization of the service list, and accessibility features.
By providing test cases, which are also part of the Implementation Profile, device manufacturers are enabled to specifically test their DVB-I receivers for interoperability for the German market.
The DVB-I Implementation Profile
The DVB-I Implementation Profile of the DTVP is a separate document and is considered an appendix to a “DVB-I Book Germany” (working title) planned by the “Round Table DVB-I”.
