More than 190 test sessions on the interoperability of TV and streaming technologies

Frankfurt am Main, 10/16/2026. Developers and experts from 30 companies have been coming together since Monday to jointly test devices, software, and platforms for TV, streaming & audio. The DTVP Plugfest Berlin 2026 took place in cooperation with the Digital TV Group (DTG, London) and the HbbTV Association (Geneva) at Fraunhofer FOKUS in Berlin and ended on Wednesday, October 14. The HbbTV Testing Event began immediately afterwards and ends today, Friday.

DTVP draws a positive conclusion
The Deutsche TV-Plattform (DTVP) draws a positive conclusion from the DTVP Plugfest 2026 in Berlin. From October 12 to 14, more than 60 participants from 30 companies came together for over 190 test sessions at Fraunhofer FOKUS. With its high level of participation, Plugfest 2026 is thus one of the most successful editions in its history.
The aim was to test the interoperability of different devices, software solutions, and platforms for TV & streaming under real-world conditions.

High-level technological exchange with strong international participation
The focus was on HbbTV, streaming, immersive audio, and DVB-I, as well as UHD-HDR tests via HDMI®️. Device manufacturers, broadcasters, platform operators, and technology providers tested the interaction of their devices, content, and implementations. In 1:1 test sessions, participants were able to find out how they can improve compatibility between different systems. By participating in the Plugfest, the companies ensure that technological challenges are identified at an early stage and that the further development of interoperable products and services is guaranteed at a high level.

At the same time, the Plugfest reflects the international character of the TV industry. Experts from companies around the world used the opportunity during the Plugfest in Berlin to jointly test their implementations, exchange experiences, and discuss technological challenges directly with one another.

“The high number of participants confirms again this year that interoperability testing remains essential for the industry, particularly when introducing new technologies and platforms. Together with our partners from the DTG, the HbbTV Association, and Fraunhofer FOKUS, we offer our members added value that can demonstrably accelerate the development speed of new products and services.”

Following the DTVP Plugfest, the HbbTV Testing Event also took place at Fraunhofer FOKUS from October 14 to 16. There, tests for the HbbTV Test Suite were verified using real implementations in order to support the further development and interoperability of the standard.

“The Plugfest was once again great fun this year. It remains impressive to see the precision with which the participating companies work on the interoperability of their devices and carry out their tests. At the same time, it is exciting to observe how many new insights continue to be gained even at an already very advanced stage of technological development.”
