TV sales increase by 3.2 percent

Frankfurt/Main, February 11, 2026

In 2025, 4.8 million TV sets were sold. This corresponds to an increase of 3.2 percent compared to 2024 (just under 4.7 million). This is according to the current CE Industry Compass from ZVEI and German TV Platform in cooperation with NIQ. The shutdown of the SD distribution of ARD channels at the end of 2024 also led to a strong start to the year in the first quarter of 2025. Sales in the fourth quarter increased by five percent compared to the same period of the previous year.

Even though OLED TVs increased by 9.4 percent to 821,000 units sold year-on-year, LCD remains clearly the dominant display technology with over four million units sold. QLED is increasingly being used: The technology is installed in around one-third of the LCD devices sold (2024: 23 percent).

The trend towards larger screen sizes continued. Compared to the previous year, the segment of over 65 inches saw a growth of 15 percent for 2025.

Radio is becoming more and more digital in Germany: More than seven out of ten radio receivers sold in 2025 had digital radio reception. This includes internet radio, DAB+, and hybrid receivers. In the past five years, the share of digital radio receivers increased by 13 percentage points to 71 percent.

The trend is also positive for DAB+ radios. Over half of the “table-top” radios sold in 2025 have this standard (55 percent). Thus, the DAB+ share has increased significantly in recent years. In 2020, it was still 41 percent.

The overall market considered in the CE Industry Compass (video and audio) declined by nearly five percent in 2025. A total of 6.1 billion euros was generated.

Note

The consumer electronics market considered by the CE Industry Compass includes TV sets, TV accessories, radios, headphones, speakers, as well as audio and sound systems. The radio segment considered includes radio devices (i.e., stand-alone radios), radios in audio home systems, tuners, receivers, and retrofit car radios. Radios installed in vehicles are not included.

The figures of the CE Industry Compass are based, unless another source is mentioned, on figures from the GfK Total Market.

Further figures on audio and TV/video can be found in the press area of ZVEI or on our page “Industry Compass”.
